Dear Family and Friends,
It’s amazing to think that next year, Joyful Motion will be celebrating 20 years of successful service to our community. We started with the unique idea that identifying and remediating ‘sensory processing challenges in children can open a new and exciting world of opportunities with untold potential. Over the years, our dedicated, holistic team of therapists has treated hundreds of children with this ‘invisible disorder’ and they have grown up to become successful professionals, and community leaders and raised their own families in our community.
We have so much more to do! There are many families who lack the resources, knowledge, and community supports to understand why their bright, articulate child suddenly seems depressed, unmotivated, defiant, and ‘out-of-sync’ with their feelings and body. These are often very young children who sometimes have a primary diagnosis of Autism, Down’s Syndrome, or other intellectual disability. All these families deserve the opportunity to schedule an initial comprehensive occupational therapy evaluation with us to determine if sensory processing may be a cause or contributing factor. If so, our team can develop an impactful treatment plan with the family that will truly make a difference in their child’s life.
We want to reach as many families as possible in our community and so we have recently fulfilled our dream of transitioning Joyful Motion to a nonprofit organization. We have established a dedicated, growing Board of Directors, refreshed our website and brochure, and significantly expanded our social media presence. We already have an events committee in place to plan our incredible 20 -year anniversary celebrations, culminating in a Fall extravaganza not to be missed!
We are Pinellas County’s best-kept secret but now, as a nonprofit, we can promote and expand our mission and services to families who are looking for answers for their children but are frustrated at every turn. We can offer exciting volunteer and internship opportunities and apply for research grants while continuing our core mission of successful, holistic therapeutic treatment.
